DAS FOR INTRUSION DETECTION

Our cutting-edge technology solutions combine advanced signal-processing techniques with machine learning to minimise false alarms caused by wind, rain, animals, and other common sources of false alarms for other perimeter monitoring systems.

DAS can sense intrusions where traditional camera-based systems fail: during foggy, low visibility or inclement conditions.

This technology has the advantage of early detection of potential intrusion, therefore saving time for proper response

Typical Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems are tuned to detect

  • Fence-Mounted Fiber:
    • Fence Climbing / Intrusions
    • Fence Cutting (Angle Grinder)
    • Gate Operation (opening/closing)
  • Buried Perimeter Fiber:
    • Perpendicular Walking (up to the perimeter fence)
    • Parallel Walking (around the perimeter fence)
    • Digging/tunnelling
    • Vehicle Movement

All systems include a standard feature of monitoring fibre break events, ensuring the highest level of security.

System Overview

  • The sensing fiber is installed inside the structure of the fence itself, inside the lower metal conduit
  • This installation method is ideal:
    • Increases coupling / signal strength for intrusion events
    • Decreases signal strength from background noise events (wind, rain, external construction etc)
    • Protects the cable from damage and degradation

  • System calibration was complete within two days, main tasks included:
    • Sensing fiber repair work
    • Zone geo-referencing calibration
    • Simulation intrusion tests for detector tuning
  • The system will automatically detect:
    • Fence Climbing / Intrusions
    • Fence Cutting (Angle Grinder)
    • Gate Operation (opening / closing)
    • Fiber Break
  • Integrated with Dry Contact Relays according to camera zone layout
  • Following installation, the system went through a period of fine-tuning which involved several remote-access login sessions over a 2-week period
  • The system has been in an operational period for the last five months, and has produced:
    • An average of just one false alarm every two weeks
    • Several genuine alerts on maintenance crews and construction activity close to the fence line
